TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory’s Dr Chris Mills has recently been reappointed as the Vice-Chair for IMEKO Technical Committee 9 (TC9). The next TC9 conference, known as ‘FLOMEKO’, has been integrated into the IMEKO World Congress for 2024. Senior Consultant, Chris, has published numerous  peer-reviewed journal papers, and presented at technical conferences around the world. He’s also chair of the TÜV SÜD Measurement Focus Group which is a technical forum hosted four times a year across the UK.

He expressed his enthusiasm for the congress which takes place in Germany next year:

"We want to bring together the best minds across academia and industry to shape the future of metrology. The 2024 event aims to explore well-established and emerging topics, such as AI and digitalisation. Furthermore, the event will highlight critical measurement areas, including hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and nano flows. It’s an exciting time to be involved in metrology and I know we’ll receive lots of interesting papers.”

The theme of the congress is “Think Metrology” which covers all topics of IMEKO’s 25 Technical Committees, as well as:

General Topics

  • General metrology
  • Industrial metrology
  • Dynamic measurements
  • Quality infrastructure

Special Focus Topics

  • Digitalisation
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Hydrogen
  • Carbon, capture, utilisation and storage
  • Liquid, gas & multi-phase flows
  • Air speed, volume
  • Fluid properties
  • Primary standards, new calibration, and inter-comparison facilities
  • Legal metrology in flow measurement
  • Analysis and assessment of uncertainties
  • Development and performance of flow metering technology
  • New applications in healthcare, saving energy and protecting the environment

XXIV IMEKO World Congress 2024, organised by the PTB, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, will be held in Hamburg, Germany, on 26 – 29 August 2024.
