Congratulations to Phil Stockton whose paper, “Offshore flares: measurement and calculation of combustion efficiency, methane and CO2e emissions”, was judged to be the best paper presented at the Global Flow Measurement Workshop (GFMW) in October. At the Measurement Focus Group in December, Phil received his award for the paper which is an analysis of the implications of a semi-empirical flare combustion efficiency (CE) equation, developed by the University of Alberta (UoA), on methane and carbon dioxide emissions from oil and gas installation flares.
Phil is Director and Head Consultant at Accord Energy Solutions which he co-founded in 2010. He graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked as a process engineer for over 30 years but has more recently specialised in allocation engineering with an emphasis on simulation and use of mathematical techniques.
Phil said:
“I found the increased focus at the GFMW on themes associated with climate change abatement, (emissions, hydrogen, carbon capture, renewables) to be very relevant and as with previous conferences, it proved to be a very stimulating and interesting event. It was especially gratifying therefore, to win the best paper award at a conference in which so many strong papers were delivered.”
If you’d like to read Phil’s paper along with all the technical content from GFMW, you can buy a digital pack.
