TÜV SÜD is pleased to be part of a multi-company technical project providing carbon capture, utilisation and storage advice to the UK Government. Working alongside WSP, Crondall Energy, GeoEnergy Durham, Acrometis, Tetra Tech / RPS, Arup and Mott MacDonald, this next contract term seeks to provide the necessary additional depth of resource to support the planned scale up in activity for the CCUS programme. CCUS will form a key element of the UK’s commitment to deliver a net zero economy by 2050, and this programme will enable the continued development and scaling of the industry at pace and with international impact.
Dr Gabriele Chinello, Head of Carbon Capture and Storage at TÜV SÜD said:
“Flow meters are the ‘cash registers’ of the energy system, and now with CCUS they, are also the ‘carbon registers’. In our role as the UK’s Designated Institute for Flow Measurement, through this work and our broader National Measurement System work, we are ensuring that these registers are accurate, to make sure that customers and taxpayers get value for money, and everyone has a traceable measurement chain they can be confident in.”
Dr Martin Hanton, Green Energy & Sustainability Director, TÜV SÜD, commented:
“TÜV SÜD are very pleased to be partnering once again with WSP and others to enter this second phase of support for regulatory development for the CCUS sector, given how essential this is to the UK’s net-zero target. Our work will help ensure accurate measurement through the CCUS ecosystem, for both financial purposes and carbon accounting."
