What is Active Lateral Intrusion Simulation (ALIS)?

The TÜV SÜD Active Lateral Intrusion Simulation system is a unique, state-of-the-art technology for non-destructive physical simulation of side crashes with active and controlled deformation of vehicle side structure. It is not only one of few such systems in Europe but it is the first system that introduces testing of both front and rear seat loading at the same time.

An integral part of vehicle development projects with ALIS is the Finite Element Analysis support. A virtual image of sled tests provides a comprehensive view into problems of systems set-up and achievement of maximum efficiency of tests.

Why is Active Lateral Intrusion Simulation important?

Carmakers are under growing pressure nowadays to reduce both development times and costs, while meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of safety legislation and customer expectations. Here ALIS can deliver various benefits to vehicle manufacturers:

  • New simulation methods offer an alternative, more efficient approach to physical crash tests by providing comprehensive virtual and physical simulations of the impact experienced by vehicles and their systems during accidents
  • Increase your efficiency and profitability through highly efficient tests that enable you to develop high quality products
  • Save time and money with our unique and innovative approach to component testing, which increases the safety of your products and avoids costly, time-consuming reworks.
  • Work with a competent partner who uses ALIS, a Europe-wide unique system that combines a new approach to physical side crash simulation testing and virtual simulation

TÜV SÜD is your competent partner for Active Lateral Intrusion Simulation

TÜV SÜD has more than a century of vehicle safety, testing and certification experience. Our extensive knowledge and international reputation enables us to work as a partner with our global customers, including top OEMs and automotive suppliers. Our state-of-the-art testing facilities, combined with our global network of technical experts, can provide your company with a single-source solution for achieving compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, standards and voluntary industry schemes. In addition, TÜV SÜD offers full support throughout the whole vehicle development process and its side testing – from virtual crash simulation, through virtual sled and physical sled simulation to a full crash within our dynamic component testing (DYCOT) laboratory.

Our laboratory is ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited and has passed a TISAX information security audit for handling development prototypes. With several independent preparation rooms we can ensure maximum privacy in case of parallel testing for different customers.
