Robotics compliance engineering workshop

Learn how robotics compliance can support safer, more reliable products while reducing the risk of delays, rework and market access challenges.

United Kingdom 11:30 - 18:30 UK time

As robotics and automation technologies become more advanced, regulatory expectations are becoming more demanding. This workshop will help you understand how compliance can support safer, more reliable products while reducing the risk of delays, rework and market access challenges. You'll also gain a better understanding of the regulatory changes likely to affect future robotics development, helping you make informed decisions as requirements continue to change.

  • Turn complex robotics regulations into a clear route to market
Gain clarity on CE/UKCA requirements, the EU Machinery Regulation, product liability, and key standards helping you reduce compliance risk, avoid costly redesigns, and accelerate market access.
  • Learn how to build safety and cybersecurity into connected robotics
By connecting functional safety with OT and IoT cybersecurity, we will provide actionable insights into designing, specifying, and verifying robotic systems that are both compliant and resilient.
  • Future-proof products through direct access to experts and industry peers
Discuss emerging requirements around AI, autonomy, and international standards with TÜV SÜD specialists and industry leaders with the chance to continue your specific compliance conversations during the networking reception.

Agenda

Arrival & coffee

12:00 - 12:20 | Introduction: General Regulations and the Business Case for Compliance – Paul Taylor
An opening session outlining the overarching regulatory landscape governing machinery safety and robotics (including the EU Machinery Regulation, CE/UKCA marking frameworks, and product liability laws), exploring why proactive compliance is critical for risk mitigation, market access, and legal liability management.

12:20 - 13:30 | Session 1: Functional Safety & Core Compliance – Joseph Ardley
A presentation-led session introducing the key safety standards for industrial robots and autonomous mobile robots, including ISO 10218 and ISO 3691-4. It will explore common safety functions and use a practical example to show how a function is specified, designed and verified in accordance with ISO 13849-1.

13:30 - 13:50 | Afternoon Refreshment Break

13:50 - 14:50 | Session 2: OT & IoT Cybersecurity for Connected Robotic Ecosystems – Terry Ogban & Felix Anda Basabe
An overview of how both IOT and OT products are converging in robotic ecosystems and how a mature cybersecurity approach is important to ensure resilience.

14:50 - 15:10 | Afternoon Refreshment Break

15:10 - 16:10 | Session 3 (Open Panel): The Future of Robotics & Navigating Emerging Regulations
An open, forward-looking conversation guided by TÜV SÜD alongside industry leaders, addressing the next wave of automation. The panel explores how the robotics sector can anticipate and adapt to emerging regulatory frameworks (such as AI integration mandates, dynamic autonomy, and changing international standards) fostering an interactive dialogue on future-proofing design pipelines and managing compliance challenges with input from the floor.

16:10 - 16:30 | Closing Remarks
Final summaries, distribution of post-event documentation packages, and wrap-up from the steering committee.

16:30 - 18:30 | Evening Networking Reception
