NOVEMBER 2019: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS
The South Korean Agency for Technology and Standard (KATS) issued a notice to new safety standards establishment for industrial lithium secondary batteries on 21 October 2019.
The standard KC 62619 applies to lithium secondary battery systems with rated capacity less than 300 kWh for energy storage devices and other similar use (including household energy storage).
The standard establishes requirements and product safety tests as well as functional safety tests, with safety standards compliant with IEC 62619 and KS C IEC 62619.
The safety standard was in force since 21 October 2019 except for Sections 8.2.2-8.2.4 on safety testing which will be approved a six-month deferred period.
