Volunteers Create Vegetable Garden for Fareham Food Bank

24 April 2023

TUV SUD Volunteers in Veg Garden Fareham Food BankA team of TÜV SÜD volunteers spent Earth Day on Saturday 22 March 2023 working on a fulfilling project to set up a vegetable garden for Fareham Food Bank. The team worked tirelessly to dig, prep, and plant vegetables, with the aim of providing fresh produce to those in need.

The project was born out of a desire to support the food bank in a meaningful way, by providing a sustainable source of nutritious vegetables to help to end poverty and hunger (UN Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2). The community garden will also help improve well-being (UN Sustainable Development Goals 3) by providing an outside space for the 600 food bank users to enjoy.

The project was a testament to the power of teamwork across the and the positive impact that can be achieved through volunteering. By setting up a vegetable garden for the food bank, the volunteers have provided a valuable source of fresh produce, while also promoting sustainable and healthy living. The veg garden is the latest initiative to support the local food bank which is the chosen charity for 2023. Earlier this month, we donated 600 Easter eggs and regular food deliveries are also being made.

Fareham Food Bank thanked the volunteers on their social media saying:

“A big thank you to the team from TÜV SÜD who today have dug, prepped and planted vegetables in our Community Garden. Looking forward to enjoying this space with our users in the coming months.”

Overall, the project was a rewarding and enriching experience for the team made up of volunteers from various TÜV SÜD divisions. It made a lasting impression on the volunteers, who were proud to have made a difference in their local community.
