EMC Trainer / EMC Consultant

Tell us about yourself

Before becoming an EMC consultant, I enjoyed a lengthy tenure as an electronics and motor drive engineer at a world-leading technology company. My journey began after earning a doctorate in electrical power. Throughout my career as a design engineer and team leader, I acquired patents and successfully launched products, some of which went on to sell millions of units annually. Since 2023, I have been engaged in providing EMC training courses for TÜV SÜD Academy, and I find immense satisfaction working with their team. Currently, I also serve as the Chair of the IEEE EMC UK & Ireland Chapter.

Where do you work?

I travel around the world to provide top-class EMC consulting and training services.

What are your main areas of expertise?

EMC Design for Products, EM Safety and Compliance.

What does your role involve?

My work entails assisting clients, typically manufacturing companies, in rectifying design flaws to ensure their products pass EMC tests. The primary advantage is the reduction of time-to-market for their products. Additionally, I offer training programs tailored to engineers from various disciplines and skill levels. Equipped with this knowledge, engineers can genuinely enhance their expertise.

What most interests you about your role?

The most exciting aspect of my job is collaborating with highly skilled engineers, be they test engineers or design engineers. Together, we tackle the kinds of problems that other people ignore, all while sharing valuable knowledge. These days, the projects I work on span the spectrum, from palm-sized drones to mega-watt power generators.

What exciting developments have you seen at TÜV SÜD since you started?

To see the TÜV SÜD academy training programme getting more and more popular and recognised.

What future trends do you see developing in your area of work?

As technology evolves, there will be more and more challenges in my field, and I am looking forward to these new challenges.

What is your biggest challenge?

Currently, the most significant challenge I face is bridging the gap in education within the electronics industry, from universities to the actual industry itself. This divide is substantial, and our mission is to close it. By doing so, we can elevate the level of engineering across the board and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

What do you see as the top perk of working for TÜV SÜD?

It is the people who I work with.

How have TÜV SÜD supported you?

The TÜV SÜD academy team has been fantastic in supporting my work, it is them who made the course possible to a wide audience.

Describe your fellow workers in five words

Enthusiastic, professional, supportive, hard-working.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of applying for a role similar to yours?

Keep learning and be humble.
