Tell us about yourself - How and when did you arrive at TÜV SÜD?Lauren Joesbury HR Apprentice Staff Profile

I work as an HR Apprentice in the HR team for TÜV SÜD Product Services and I joined the company in February 2020, right before the first lockdown.

What are you studying and at what college/university? What do you most enjoy about your course?

I'm studying a CIPD Level 3 Apprenticeship at Highbury College, Portsmouth. My favourite part of the course has been the employment law module as it is important as a member of the HR Team but also as an employee.

Why did you choose to apply to TÜV SÜD?

TÜV SÜD was recommended to me by an existing employee who explained that it is a really great place to work. The organisation offered a really interesting apprenticeship opportunity that would allow me to grow my career.

Where do you work?

Octagon House, Fareham in Hampshire.

What does your role involve? What are your main responsibilities?

I support the recruitment activities within the Product Service Division and provide general admin support to the wider UK HR team.

What are the benefits of doing an apprenticeship?

Doing an apprenticeship allows you to apply your knowledge in the workplace alongside college with real-life situations, which is great if you are more of a practical learner.

What have you learnt?

I have learnt to be organised, improve my ability to multitask and the importance of attention to detail. I am also a lot more confident.

What do you find most exciting about your job?

The most fulfilling part of my job is when candidates who I shortlisted are successful and they join the TÜV SÜD team. We are currently reviewing the candidate experience and how we can improve this. We will also be creating a bank of recruitment training videos for our managers to use.

What do you see as the top perk of working for TÜV SÜD?

The culture and the people, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

How have TÜV SÜD supported you?

TÜV SÜD offer continuous opportunities to further my learning by allowing me to attend relevant courses that I feel would be beneficial and support me in my role.

How would you describe your fellow workers in three words?

Professional, supportive and friendly.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of applying for a role similar to yours?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you need help as people are always happy to support you.
