Tell us about yourself

I joined TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory in October 2023 as a Graduate Sustainability Consultant, leveraging my educational background in environmental engineering and a master's degree in Environmental Management for Business from Cranfield University, UK. Prior to this, I gained experience through internships with chemical and earth-moving equipment companies. Currently, I’m completing training to deliver verification and validation of sustainability projects according to ISO standards, including ISO 14064-1,2,3, 14065, 17025 & 17029, and 19011.

Where do you work?

I work remotely, allowing me the flexibility to manage my tasks efficiently while maintaining a strong connection with my team and projects at TÜV SÜD.

What are your main areas of expertise?

As a graduate sustainability consultant in the Green Energy and Sustainability (GES) team, my main areas of expertise include carbon accounting, life cycle analysis, and sustainability strategy development.

What does your role involve?

I conduct business carbon footprint calculations and carbon footprint verification, and low carbon hydrogen assessments. I also collaborate with clients to develop tailored sustainability plans and advise on energy-efficient practices. Another part of my role is to analyse sustainability strategies, recommend improvements, and integrate sustainable design principles into projects.

What most excites you about your role?

I am doing exactly what I have always wanted to do. My expertise in sustainability is perfectly aligned with my responsibilities, making my work incredibly fulfilling. So far, the highlights of my experience include working on several internal projects where I have applied my skills in carbon accounting, life cycle analysis, and sustainability strategy development. Looking ahead, I am particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming projects that promise to be both challenging and rewarding, offering further opportunities to make a meaningful impact on environmental sustainability.

What exciting developments have you seen at TÜV SÜD since you started?

Since I started at TÜV SÜD, I have witnessed several exciting developments, particularly within the sustainability team in the UK. One of the key highlights has been our team-building events, which have not only strengthened our collaboration but also helped us to develop and launch new service lines. These events have fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and innovation, enabling us to expand our offerings and better serve our clients in the sustainability sector.

What future trends do you see developing in your area of work?

In the sustainability field, I foresee a continued focus on innovation in renewable energy technologies, advancements in sustainable materials and manufacturing processes, increased emphasis on circular economy principles, and the integration of nature-based solutions for environmental conservation.

What is your biggest challenge?

One of my biggest challenges is staying ahead of the rapidly evolving regulations and standards in the field of sustainability. As new policies and frameworks emerge, it requires constant learning and adaptation to ensure compliance and provide the most up-to-date guidance to clients. However, I view this challenge as an opportunity for growth and development, pushing me to continually expand my knowledge and expertise to stay at the forefront of the industry.
