KSA: SASO implementation of technical regulation for restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment since July 2022

JUNE 2022 – ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

On 9 July 2021, the Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO) issued a technical regulation for Saudi Arabia RoHS. This regulation aims to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and define conformity assessment procedures to which suppliers must adhere. This regulation was originally scheduled to come into effect on 5 January 2022. However, SASO has decided to postpone the implementation date for six months. This regulation will be implemented in the phases below:

RoHS requirement is combined in the conformity assessment of SASO PC, which means RoHS conformity is the precondition of SASO PC. TÜV SÜD Middle East is notified body for RoHS assessment. Please contact us for early preparation of your product in compliance with Saudi Arabia's market access.
