On 13 June 2018, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) published revision A31 to the toy standard EN 71-3:2013 for migration of certain elements. The new standard should be implemented at national level by the end of this year, and the conflicting standards must be withdrawn.Standard EN 71-3 specifies requirements and test methods for the migration of 19 elements including aluminum, antimony, arsenic, barium, boron, cadmium, chromium (III), chromium (VI), cobalt, copper, lead, manganese, mercury, nickel, selenium, strontium, tin, organic tin and zinc for different toy materials.Compared to previous standard, this new revision A3 lowers the migration limits of lead to align with the amendment to the EU toy directive published in April 2017.
