UAE: mandatory standard for TV energy efficiency labelling in force

On 28 January 2019, the United Arab Emirates Cabinet of Ministers enacted Decision No. 12/2019 regarding the implementation of Standard UAE.S 5010-8:2019 on energy efficiency labelling for televisions. Manufacturer or importer must comply with this standard within 180 days after it was published. The implementation date is August 14, 2019.

The applicable standard is UAE.S 5010-8:2018 – Labeling – Energy Efficiency Label for Electrical Appliances – Part 8: Television Sets. All television sets must be certified according the above standard and affixed EESL (Energy Efficiency Standardisation and Labeling Program) before entering UAE market.
