While autonomous and connected vehicles will improve traffic flow and safety, they also represent a new target for cyber criminality. The growing variety of software and communication interfaces is increasing both complexity and connectivity, making future cars significantly more vulnerable to hacker attacks. Any compromise of security could result in a loss of data privacy, and negatively impact car safety or even cause accidents. Both appropriate safety measures, and effective and robust cyber security solutions are therefore essential.
