TÜV SÜD (headquartered in Munich, Germany), a globally acclaimed safety and quality expert, has issued ISO/SAE 21434 certification for automotive cybersecurity to DENSO CORPORATION (Location: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, President & COO: Shinnosuke Hayashi).
With the improvement of automotive-related technologies such as connected cars, the importance of cybersecurity measures is also increasing. In Europe, since July 2022, it has become mandatory to implement cybersecurity requirements (in accordance with UNECE R 155) for vehicle type approval. In addition, from July 2024, it will be mandatory for approved vehicle types to comply with the regulation. While safety standards, including the introduction of the regulation, are also being enforced in Japan, the international standard ISO/SAE 21434:2021 is attracting attention as a reference guideline for compliance with the regulation.
TÜV SÜD has issued ISO/SAE 21434:2021 certification for DENSO CORPORATION's processes throughout the product lifecycle. This standard is an international standard for cybersecurity in the automotive industry and provides guidelines from manufacturing to decommissioning to minimize the risk of cyberattacks. With this certification, DENSO is now able to prove that it has been objectively verified by a third party that their vehicle components and systems are delivered through a secure development process.
Dirk von Wahl, CEO North Asia at TÜV SÜD, said, „For companies, security measures are not only a technology challenge, but also a corporate governance issue. We are very pleased to have been able to issue ISO/SAE 21434 certification to DENSO, a leading mobility supplier, and to contribute to the automotive industry in Japan.“
TÜV SÜD Japan will continue to contribute to the promotion of cybersecurity measures in Japan through certification and training services for a wide range of industries, including automobiles, industrial equipment, and medical devices.
ISO/SAE 21434:2021 is an international standard for cybersecurity in the automotive industry, published on August 2021. In order to minimize the risk of hacking and cyberattacks inherent in the systems and devices installed in vehicles, guidelines have been established from manufacturing to decommissioning. It is also attracting attention as a reference guideline for compliance with UN regulation UNECE R 155. TÜV SÜD Japan offers ISO/SAE 21434 process and product certification covering the entire automotive supply chain, as well as qualification training courses.
