EU: REACH public consultation for the 27th update of candidate list launched

MARCH 2022 - ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS, HARDLINES, SOFTLINES, TOYS AND CHILDREN'S PRODUCTS

On 4 March 2022, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation for the 27th update of the REACH Candidate List1. The public consultation will end on 19 April 2022.

One (1) substance was proposed as a substance of very high concern (SVHC). Moreover, the European Commission (EC) is expected to publish the decision about the identification of resorcinol2 as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) soon. Once the EC decision is published, ECHA will follow up to include resorcinol into the Candidate List. Hence, the total number of SVHCs listed on the Candidate List will increase from 223 to 225 in June or July 2022.

Table A gives the substance name, identification number (CAS and EC), the reasons for proposing, and their potential applications.
