China: GB 39177-2020 of energy efficiency grades for electric pressure cookers approved

On 23 July 2020, the China Standardisation Administration (SAC) and China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) approved Standard GB 39177-2020 regarding Minimum Allowable Values of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Grades for Electric Pressure Cookers.

GB 39177-2020 establishes the energy efficiency grades, standby power, heat preservation energy consumption, energy efficiency limit, test methods and inspection rules of electric pressure cookers.

This standard is only applicable to electric pressure cookers which are heated by electric heating elements or electromagnetic induction, with a rated power up to 2000W, a rated volume up to 10L, and a rated cooking pressure up to 140kPa. This standard is not applicable to pressure rice cookers.

This standard will come into force on 1 August 2021.
