Automotive Cybersecurity per ISO/SAE 21434 - Level 1 Examination
This certification exam validates your foundational knowledge of automotive cybersecurity, as taught in our Automotive Cybersecurity Level 1 instructor-led training. The exam assesses your understanding of the ISO/SAE 21434 standard and your ability to apply cybersecurity principles across the vehicle lifecycle.
Successful candidates will receive a TÜV SÜD Certificate of Achievement, demonstrating their readiness to contribute to cybersecurity governance, engineering, and compliance in the automotive sector.
This certification is ideal for professionals who have completed the Level 1 training and are looking to validate their knowledge, including:
- Cybersecurity officers
- Engineering and development teams
- Quality and audit personnel
- Project and production managers
- Anyone involved in vehicle homologation or compliance
Exam type: Live-proctored online exam.
Question format: Multiple-single choice (there can be only one correct answer for each question)

Exam duration: 60 minutes
Required number of points: 24 (60% or more passing criteria)

This is an online proctored examination. Participants will need their webcam on.
Requirements for Live Proctored Examination:
- Students need to connect to the examination session from an internet accessible location.
- Webcam and Microphone are REQUIRED.
- The examination venue must be a self-contained private room or office.
- When prompted by the online exam proctor, the complete work environment/room must be shown using the camera.
- There must be no other people in the room.
- No other materials are allowed in the vicinity of the PC/laptop other than permitted resources.
- No texts on the walls or desk.
- Quiet surroundings and no music, television or other sources of noise.
- No other computers or devices in the room are to be switched on.
- The room must be sufficiently lit (equivalent to daylight).
- Participants are not permitted to create or distribute transcripts of the examination contents (electronically and/or manually).
- Participant makes/receives a telephone call during the examination.
- Another person appears in the room.
- During the examination, the browser displaying the examination is left and answers are researched online despite this being prohibited by the examination regulations (closed book).
- Documents/notes are positioned on or around the laptop/monitor that enable the participant to cheat.
Every examination from TÜV SÜD Academy has its own examination regulations that describe the permitted resources, for instances. There may be supplementary regulations for online examinations. The examination regulation/s and any supplementary regulations shall apply.
If the examination is passed, successful participants will receive a certificate from the TÜV SÜD Academy.
- It is highly recommended to participate in the corresponding TÜV SÜD training modules.
- Participation in our Automotive Cybersecurity Level 1 according to ISO/SAE 21434 training course is strongly recommended, but not mandatory. By participating in our training program, you will be well prepared for this exam.
