Overview of ISO 26262 Functional Safety Training and personnel Certification Program- For all Road Vehicles
ISO 26262 is an international standard for road vehicles in the automotive industry. The electrical and electronic systems consisting of hardware and software components in vehicles are governed by this standard. Compliance to ISO 26262 functional safety standards in automotive is crucial for the OEMs, automotive suppliers and designers for safety and automotive development. ISO 26262 functional safety mandates automotive OEMs and suppliers to follow and document the functional safety process to ensure their devices and processes run precisely and safely without any error. It sets an outline for measuring risks and determining risk classes known as ASILs (Automotive Safety Integrity Levels) and aims at reducing possible hazards in automotive systems. It defines the safety lifecycle from the concept phase until the decommissioning of the automotive product or system. It tracks and measures risks to ensure that an acceptable level of safety is achieved in the automotive product. With growing automation and use of automotive electronic systems, ISO 26262 accounts for setting the guideline for risk management by setting the standards for hardware and software development as well as testing, aiming to achieve the highest levels of safety. Hence, in today’s time it is crucial to train professionals in the automotive sector to have complete knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety automotive standards to efficiently manage their systems with minimum levels of risk.
ISO 26262 Functional Safety Training and Certification Program, trains professionals to have complete understanding and updated technical knowledge of the safety related systems that the standard accounts for. It aims at building a basic understanding about safety-related functions with respect to electrical and electronic systems to minimise risks and failure in the automotive sector. It applies from the concept phase, design phase, product development, commissioning to decommissioning phase. So, basically it covers the complete lifecycle of the automotive product. Implementing ISO 26262 in the initial phase, helps to ensure that no such risks surface at a later stage of production, when it becomes expensive to fix the problem.
