Safety and Approval of Hydrogen Propulsion Systems for Rail Vehicles Training Course

Face to face Training1 DayBeginner

The development of hydrogen systems for rail vehicles as well as their integration requires comprehensive knowledge of the existing hydrogen and railway-specific requirement criteria. The current standards situation in the field of hydrogen technology, which is not yet geared towards rail vehicles, as well as the existing market situation, allow system manufacturers and integrators to use only components from automotive or stationary applications that are subject to the specific regulatory requirements applicable to them.

This therefore requires a comprehensive risk analysis for the railway application. In addition, an assessment of the suitability of safety verifications for use in rail vehicles is required, taking into account the respective operation. In addition to the approval specifics, the training conveys the generic risks of hydrogen technology for road and rail vehicles and discusses what needs to be taken into account when adopting safety certificates and which railway-specific requirement criteria may not yet be covered by it. In addition to regular operation, this also includes commissioning, maintenance and repair, refuelling and the management of malfunctions and emergencies. In doing so, our expert discusses practical examples and cases of damage.
