Certification mark Quality PPP20150
Scope:
Consumer products (household appliances, office equipment, tools, garden tools. Excluded are medical devices, toys, gas products, personal protective equipment, products for animals, LED-Bulbs, sanitary products and apparel)
Basis of certification: PPP20150
This voluntary TÜV SÜD certification mark for products demonstrates that the product has been tested and certified by the third-party organisation TÜV SÜD.
The certification mark is only awarded to products that undergo inspection by TÜV SÜD Product Service and comply with the criteria quoted below.
The right side of the certification mark always includes the statement "Quality tested". The statements below describe the scope of the tests performed. The certification mark always includes the statement “Fit for use”.
Optionally, the statement "Endurance tested" can be added on the right if TÜV SÜD considers endurance testing to be applicable.
The statement “Toxic tested” can also be added optionally, depending on the scope of certification.
Further product-specific statements can be added to the certification mark if the associated tests are included in the test order and an appropriate and approved TÜV SÜD test standard is available.
Description of all statements that may be included on the certification mark:
-
Quality tested
The statement “Quality tested" covers the tests carried out on the product. Their exact scope follows from the additional features listed below this Statement.
However, in any case the obligatory tests must be proved in addition and factory inspection carried out prior to certification.
-
Fit for use
Within the scope of the test, the product and its operating instructions were tested for user-friendliness according to the standard developed by TÜV SÜD Product Service.
As the customer expects a long service life, this statement may only be made if the product successfully passed endurance testing. In case of a negative result of the endurance test, usability may not be advertised as a product Feature.
-
Safety tested (optional)
Another focus in addition to product quality is product safety. Product safety is verified in safety tests carried out by TÜV SÜD.
The statement “Safety tested” on the left of the certification mark indicates that the product was tested and certified by the independent third-party organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service for conformity with the essential technical safety requirements.
The certification criteria vary depending on the products in question. While the focus in the case of a hair dryer, for example, is on electrical safety, the focus in the case of a car jack is on the mechanical characteristics.
Certification is based on product-specific standards and test programmes. These standards and test programmes are identified on the certificate in question.
-
Endurance test (optional)
The statement “Endurance test” is optional on the certification mark if TÜV SÜD decided endurance testing is reasonable for this product.
The product was subjected to and successfully passed explicit endurance testing. Testing is based on a test module developed by TÜV SÜD, simulating expected use over a minimum period of three years.
Endurance testing is mandatory for the “Fit for use” statement and may only be waived if TÜV SÜD Product Service decides endurance testing is not relevant for the product in question.
-
Toxic tested (optional)
For the statement “Toxic tested”, TÜV SÜD tested the product for hazardous substances and verified that any harmful substances present in the product complied with, or remained under, the relevant limits. The test is based on legal requirements, with TÜV SÜD defining even stricter criteria in some cases.
-
Individually adaptable
The deflection in hardest and softest setting is determined by means of three force-displacement diagrams at the adjustable slat of the slatted frame. The abstract measure of the hardness of the bed is determined by integral calculation. The number of achievable hardness values determines whether the test mark statement can be confirmed.
The test is carried out in accordance with DIN EN 1957:2013 (test method for determining the functional properties and performance criteria of beds and mattresses).
