TÜV SÜD strengthens its position in the Scandinavian market with MiW Rail Technology (Sweden)

TÜV SÜD has acquired the business of Swedish company MiW Rail Technology and thus further strengthened its position on the Scandinavian rail market. MiW Rail Technology is an independent consulting firm, delivering solutions in the railway technology field and with special competences in vehicle dynamics and computer simulation based services. Customers of both companies will profit from the pooled expertise.

TÜV SÜD strengthens its position in the Scandinavian market with MiW Rail Technology (Sweden)TÜV SÜD’s acquisition of MiW Rail Technology represents the consistent extension of its rail services to the Scandinavian region. “We believe the Scandinavian market has high demand for a strong local provider”, says Lars Brockhoff, CEO of TÜV SÜD Danmark and responsible for the rail business of TÜV SÜD Sverige. “By acquiring MiW Rail Technology and the useful addition of cutting-edge vehicle dynamics competence including computer simulation based services and tools, we will be able to provide even more effective and efficient support for our customers in future.”

Vehicle dynamics and the development of computer simulation based services

Founded in 2005, MiW Rail Technolgy AB offers support in the fields of vehicle approval, procurement of rolling stock, international standardisation, safety management and project management. Particular emphasis is placed on vehicle dynamics and the development of computer simulation based services. An extremely exciting area when you imagine that the upcoming computer simulation will complement or in some fields even replace physical testing needs in the future. Lars Brockhoff adds: “This service will be interesting for all rolling stock suppliers to the European market and in spite of the relative novelty of the standards and regulations, we already have successful reference projects."

The TÜV SÜD rail experts have not only the fast-expanding Swedish market in mind, but are also focusing on further Scandinavian countries like Norway or Finland. “We have already launched some projects in both countries”, says Lars Brockhoff. “In future, we will be able to exploit our joint competences and our common network of operations to win further orders from these countries.”
