How do organizations become – and remain – sustainable? And why should they go through the trouble? Answers to these questions have both endured and evolved for the last two and a half decades and especially in the last 10 years, organizations have become increasingly focused on sustainability: what it is, why it matters, and how to manage and measure it.

The purpose of the AA1000 AccountAbility Principles (2018) is to set the foundation to support and guide an organization’s sustainability management, performance, and stakeholder engagement.

This practitioner-level course will detail how to apply the fundamentals of sustainability management rooted in the AccountAbility four principles:

• Inclusivity: How an organization engages with stakeholders and involves them in organizational decision making
• Materiality: How an organization identifies the issues relevant and significant to it and its stakeholders and includes these in its disclosures
• Responsiveness: How an organization responds to stakeholder issues and feedback through decisions, actions, performance, and communication
• Impact: How an organization monitors and measures its actions and the impacts they have on stakeholders

The training is designed to support sustainability professionals who are responsible for sustainability report writing and/or assurance.

The AA1000AP (2018) is an internationally accepted, principles-based framework that guides organizations through the process of identifying, prioritizing, and responding to sustainability challenges, with the goal of improving long-term performance

Similarly, the evaluation criteria of the AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS) also include the principles of AA1000AP.

You can primarily use the AA1000AP’s Inclusivity, Materiality and Responsiveness principles and Impact as assessment criteria in your assurance engagements under AA1000AS or for validation services.

Instructor-led training in a virtual classroom. This means the course is Live Online. Participants will learn through online teaching. Lectures, case studies, group exercises, discussions, problem solving, examples with explanation, assignments and/or quizzes happen in the virtual classroom training. Participants need to connect to the class from any internet accessible location. Each module is delivered live using webinar technology, creating a virtual classroom learning environment. Live sessions provide you with direct access to the trainer so you can ask questions, understand complex concepts and share ideas with peers. Webcam and microphone are REQUIRED to interact with the instructor and/or other participants.
