What is Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (CLSSBB)?

Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (CLSSBB) is the highest and most exclusive qualification level under the Lean Six Sigma quality management methodology. It enables professionals to implement, perform, interpret and apply Lean Six Sigma at an advanced level of proficiency. Capturing all aspects of the D-M-A-I-C model, the program equips professionals to demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics and assign team member roles and responsibilities to lead a full time Lean Six Sigma project.

Who should get certified?

The Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program trains professionals to lead complex improvement projects, typically in a full-time capacity. TÜV SÜD’s Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program would be best suited for senior management, team leaders and quality assurance engineers.

Professionals whose objectives are to implement the concepts of Lean, Design for Six Sigma, D-M-A-I-C and Total Productive Maintenance would essentially benefit from the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training

Training Duration

48 hours | 6 days instructor-led classroom training.

The program is conducted in two phases:

  • Phase I - The first part of the training (3 days) covers the Define, Measure & Analyze phases
  • Phase II - The second part (3 Days) takes you through the Improve and Control phase.

Two complete practice projects are undertaken in the classroom to help participants understand the implementation of Lean Six Sigma in real life business scenarios.

Pre-requisites

Participants applying for TÜV SÜD’s Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training are required to meet the following two pre-requisites:

  • Must have completed a globally accepted Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training (Green Belt project completion is not required as most of the participants take their first project as a Black Belt project).
  • Must have gone through the pre-study material shared upon registration.

Examination / Certification

Candidates are required to pass a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)-based online examination measuring the comprehension of TÜV SÜD’s Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge. The duration of the examination is 180 minutes, with 100 MCQs, offered in English.

All candidates scoring 70% or above are awarded with TÜV SÜD’s Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate.

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    What should be the time gap between Green Belt and Black Belt? Should I do a project after Green Belt (before I go for Black Belt)?

    Any Green Belt trained / certified professional can go ahead for Black Belt. If it is feasible for you to do a GB project, you may go ahead. But in some cases where people find that identifying and doing a project is not easy in their organizations, they prefer doing a single project after BB (with just one project they can get a BB project completion certification which would have otherwise required two projects).

    Is completion of a live project mandatory for getting certified as Green Belt or Black Belt?

    No, individuals are certified on the basis of completing the classroom training and clearing the examination on the last day of the training. However, it is recommended that each participant carries out a project at his workplace at the first opportunity.

    Some of the Black Belt programs are 16-20 days in duration and your program is shorter. Would you be covering everything?

    The extremely complex tools (for new product design) that are covered on great detail in a 16-day program are practically of relevance to R&D people only.

    Some of these tools are:

    • DOE (Design of Experiments) - Covered in our training to the extent required (applicable)
    • Taguchi Methodology - Not covered
    • QFD (Quality Function Deployment)

    Most of the organizations (especially service sector) have gone for our recommendations, since the complex design tools are never used in most scenarios. We believe it is better to be familiar and confident about tools which actually apply to your work area.

    Can I go for your Black Belt certification without getting Green Belt certified?

    No, completing a Green Belt training is a pre-requisite to start with the next level - Back Belt.
