Mid of December 2020 EU Commission released the final draft of the new EU Battery Regulation. A lot of new and also well-known requirements have been addressed.
One requirement has a very huge impact and should be highlighted: to identify and assess the adverse impacts associated to specific risk categories such as Air, Water, Soil, Biodiversity, Human Health, OHS, Labour Rights, Human Rights and Community Life. These risk categories are describing all facets of sustainability and are included into the point of view of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals.
The main issue with sustainability is that it is difficult to measure and to quantify it. TÜV SÜD has developed an assessment methodology for the holistic, repeatable and comprehensible measurement and quantification of sustainability.
