Successful homologation of the DMU Link 600-10 from PESA

Following the successful approval of the multiple unit DMU Link 600-10 by the German Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt, EBA), supported by TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH, the first two of nine diesel multiple units manufactured by Polish manufacturer PESA have now been delivered to Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn (NEB) in fulfilment of NEB’s 2013 order. PESA will deliver seven two-car trainsets with a total of 140 seats, two wheelchair areas and space for twelve bicycles. The trainsets are intended to allow passengers to travel from Germany to Poland without having to change trains.

Successful homologation of the DMU Link 600-10 from PESAThe official handover of the first diesel powered trainset manufactured by PESA, which will be the first trainset to ever be put into service in Germany, took place at the station Berlin Friedrichstrasse. Mateusz Morawiecki - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development of Poland, Kathrin Schneider - Minister for Infrastructure of the German state of Brandenburg, Detlef Bröcker - Chairman of the Board of Management of the railway company NEB, Tomasz Zaboklicki - Chairman of the Board of Management of the manufacturer PESA, and the two representatives from TÜV SÜD Rail, Alfred Beer - Business Line Manager Rolling Stock and Jakob Zaranek - Project Manager, attended together with employees of the Homologation team  the ceremony.

TÜV SÜD Rail had supported the homologation of the new PESA-manufactured trainset in Germany, providing i-DeBo, NoBo and AsBo services.

The activities provided, included amongst others, inspection services in almost all chapters according to VV IBG (standard operation procedure for rolling stock approval in Germany) by EBA-recognised experts, and issuing of the NNTR (notified national technical rules) certificate and dossier in TÜV SÜD Rail‘s function as interims-DeBo. In addition, the Notified Body (NoBo) TÜV SÜD Nederland (new name of Railcert) carried out EC certification of the diesel multiple units according to TSI NOI, TSI ZZS and TSI PRM technical specifications. However, within the scope of the project a safety assessment report according to Regulation (EC) No. 352/2009 was issued by the Assessment Body (AsBo).
