ABOUT THE COURSE

The purpose of this training course is to provide knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third-party audits of energy management systems (EnMS) against ISO 50001, in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO 17021, as applicable. Capitalising on the powerful Accelerated Learning Technique, this course spends a good portion of the time on discussions, exercises and case studies to help partiipants to consolidate knowledge and acquire hands-on experience that are instrumental in their capacity as a EnMS auditor or as energy management function personnel.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

•  Describe the purpose of an energy management system, of energy management systems standards, of management system audit and of third-party certification 
• Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up energy management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate) 
• Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of an energy management systems to establish conformance (or otherwise) with ISO 50001 and in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate)

• General Introduction
• Energy Management Principles, Vocabulary and ISO 50001 requirements
• Conducting stage 1 Audit (including document review)
• Preparing audit Planning
• Process auditing and audit Skills
• Writing NC reports and audit reporting
• Conducting follow up audit

Note: Activities, assignments, group discussions, and case studies will be spread across all days

Pre-requisites

Participants should have a basic understanding of ISO 50001:2018 requirements, the PDCA cycle, and general management system concepts. Some knowledge of energy management—such as energy flows, performance indicators, and relevant regulations—is also recommended. Prior auditing experience or completing an ISO 50001 Foundation course is helpful but not always mandatory.

Examination & Certification

• Written examination at the end of the course.
  • For inhouse training, written examination will be conducted at the last day of the programme.
  • For virtual online training, a written examination is mandatory in accordance with IRCA requirements. Participants are required to take the exam in person at their nearest TÜV SÜD branch.
• Minimum passing criteria: 70%.

• Participants who score 70% and above in both the continuous assessment and written examination will be issued a certificate, while the others will be issued a certificate of attendance.

Certification:

• Certificate of Successful Completion: Will be awarded only if a minimum overall score of (70%) 63 marks is achieved in both assessments.
• Certificate of Attendance: Will be awarded only if the attendance requirements are satisfied and if the participant is unsuccessful in the assessments.
