Scope:

The certification mark applies to consumer products, including household appliances, office equipment, tools and garden tools. Excluded from the scope are medical devices, toys, gas products, personal protective equipment, products for animals, LEDs, sanitary products and apparel.

Basis of certification:

The certification mark is awarded within the framework of voluntary testing and certification, including review of the relevant documents, testing for usability, durability and safety, testing for hazardous substances and compliance with further legal requirements, e.g. electromagnetic compatibility, EMC.

Key words of the certification mark:

The product has been certified by the third-party expert organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service. The certification mark is only awarded to products that undergo inspection by TÜV SÜD Product Service and comply with the criteria quoted below.

  • Independent check
    This statement demonstrates that the product has been tested and certified by the third-party organisation TÜV SÜD.
  • Quality Tested
    The statement “Quality tested” refers to comprehensive voluntary testing (user-friendliness, durability, operating instructions, hazardous substances) carried out on the product.

    Usability/instructions for use:     Within the scope of the test, the product and its operating instructions were tested for user-friendliness according to the standard developed by TÜV SÜD Product Service. As the customer expects a long service life, this statement may only be made if the product successfully passed durability testing.

    Durability: The product was subjected to and successfully passed explicit durability testing. Testing is based on a test module developed by TÜV SÜD, simulating expected use over a minimum period of three years.  Testing is mandatory and may only be waived if TÜV SÜD Product Service decides durability testing is not relevant for the product in question.

    Tested for harmful substances: TÜV SÜD tested the product for hazardous substances and verified that any harmful substances present in the product complied with or remained under the relevant limits. The test is based on legal requirements, with TÜV SÜD defining even stricter criteria in some cases.
