The EU’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED) was introduced in 2016 to establish manufacturing standards for radio products relating to their health and safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and efficient use of the radio spectrum. Manufacturers and distributors of radio equipment who wish to sell to the EU’s 500 million consumers must prove their compliance by affixing a RED CE mark to their products.
Radio equipment covers a growing array of products, from broadcast radios and television receivers to garage door openers and residential monitoring systems. To legally sell these products in the EU and European Economic Area (EEA), manufacturers and distributors must ensure their product displays a CE mark. Failure to do so may result in fines, products being banned and recall.
TÜV SÜD is an EU Notified Body authorised to evaluate products for compliance with the requirements of the EU’s Radio Equipment Directive and approve the use of the RED CE mark.
We are equipped to carry out a wide range of relevant tests in our state-of-the-art laboratories, which gives you a single-source solution for meeting RED requirements. Our technical professionals are actively involved in international advisory boards and standards development activities, giving you confidence that your product is fully compliant.
We can test your products in our labs or on-site at your premises, ensuring you get your RED CE mark fast and can sell into the EU market as soon as possible.
