Korea: Revision of some Korean Industrial Standards (KS) for electrical appliances

On 17 February 2023, the South Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) published the revision of several electrical appliances Korean Industrial Standards (KS) for some components of electrical appliances so that they are harmonized with IEC international standards.

 The revised standards are listed as follows:

• KS C IEC60884-2-4 Plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes - Part 2-4: Particular requirements for plugs and socket-outlets for SELV;
• KS C IEC60906-1 IEC system of plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes - Part 1: Plugs and socket-outlets 16 A 250 V AC;
• KS C IEC60906-2 IEC system of plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes - Part 2: Plugs and socket-outlets 15 A 125 V a.c. and 20 A 125 V a.c. and 20 A 125 V a.c.;
• KS C IEC60320-2-1 Appliance couplers for household and similar general purposes - Part 2-1: Sewing machine couplers.

The above standards specify the updated definitions, scopes, requirements, test methods, and international standards for reference, etc.
