Supporting your journey towards ZDHC compliance and sustainability

Supporting your journey towards ZDHC compliance and sustainability

What is Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemical (ZDHC)?

Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme is a global initiative driving sustainable chemical management across the textile, apparel, leather, and footwear value chains. To achieve ZDHC certification, manufacturers must demonstrate compliance with the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines through accredited wastewater and sludge testing.

TÜV SÜD Bangladesh provides independent ZDHC-compliant testing and technical guidance, enabling brands and suppliers to meet global sustainability expectations.

Why ZDHC Wastewater and Sludge Testing?

  • Compliance with ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines v2.2 – covering wastewater and sludge parameters.
  • Meet brand requirements – ZDHC MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List) compliance is increasingly mandatory for global buyers.
  • Environmental responsibility – ensures factories discharge water responsibly, protecting ecosystems and communities.
  • Transparency & credibility – verified results from TÜV SÜD, a trusted global certification body.

Wastewater Testing

  • ZDHC MRSL Wastewater testing (APs, Azo, PAHs, Halogenated Compounds etc.)
  • ZDHC Heavy Metals Wastewater testing (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, etc.)
  • ZDHC Conventional Parameters and Anions for Wastewater testing (pH, BOD, COD etc.)
  • Other priority parameters as per ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines

ZDHC Certification in Bangladesh’s Textile Industry

Bangladesh is the second-largest apparel exporter globally, making ZDHC compliance a critical factor for continued access to international markets. With increasing scrutiny from EU and US buyers, ZDHC certification demonstrates responsible chemical management beyond local Department of Environment regulations. By working with TÜV SÜD Bangladesh, manufacturers gain both international recognition and local expertise to support sustainable growth.
