What does the standard ISO/TS 22163 cover?
The ISO/TS 22163 standard defines the requirements for a quality management system (Business Management System) of a company that delivers products to the railway industry. These requirements include, but are not limited to:
- The organisation has established a suitable management system which includes mechanisms for risk & chance identification, self-assessment, preventive and corrective action, continuous improvement of performance as well as knowledge management, RAMS/LCC, project management and supply chain management. For this purpose, the organisation must, as a minimum requirement, furnish proof of the processes, procedures, records and key performance indicators - in particular the five compulsory processes to be assessed by process performance indicators, which in turn are based on process analyzes (so called turtles) - required by this international standard.
- The organisation analyses and considers the quality requirements of its customers and authorities as well as the requirements of the applicable standard.
- The certified organisation defines the required characteristics of the products and services offered and the underlying processes, and ensures regular surveillance to meet the quality requirements of customers.
