Regulatory requirements can have a significant impact on downstream users, manufacturers, and importers placing chemical substances or mixtures on the EU, UK, and US markets. It is therefore mandatory to ensure that hazards are correctly identified and clearly communicated to protect users and consumers.
Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) provides structured information on the hazards, composition and safe use of chemical substances and mixtures, including guidance on handling, storage, transport, disposal, first‑aid, firefighting and exposure control. SDS content and format are governed by REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.
We deliver fully compliant SDSs for 108 countries in 47 languages.
Classification Labeling and Packaging of Chemicals (CLP)
CLP ensures that chemical hazards are clearly communicated throughout the supply chain. Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 requires companies to classify, label, and package substances and mixtures before market placement to protect people and the environment.
We deliver compliant solutions for the EU, UK, and US markets.
Toxicological Risk Assessment (TRA)
Toxicological Risk Assessment (TRA) is a science‑based evaluation of product safety based on its chemical composition and intended use. It assesses the quantitative risk of adverse health effects arising from chemical exposure, primarily with a focus on human safety, under real‑life conditions of use.
TRA supports compliance with key EU regulations, including General Product Safety Directive (EU)2023/988, CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, and Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, which require manufacturers and importers to demonstrate that products placed on the market are safe for their intended users.
Our toxicologists support TRA compliance for chemical mixtures sold worldwide.
PCN (Poison Center Notifications)
PCN is a process by which a company reports information about a hazardous mixture to a single European poison center database. Poison Center Notification (PCN) contains information on composition and toxicology, trade name, color and packaging details - as well as a 16-digit unique formulation identifier, the UFI (Unique formula identifier). EU Poison Centre Notification (PCN) requirement is a part of the EU CLP regulation (EC) No 1272/2008).
We give guidance, create a dossier for poison center notifications and manage your account at ECHA the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
Product Information file/ Cosmetics Product Safety report (PIF/ CPSR)
The Product Information File (PIF) is a comprehensive regulatory dossier and is a crucial legal requirement for Cosmetic products placed on the EU or UK market as per Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 / UK Cosmetic Regulation.
The PIF demonstrates full regulatory compliance and must be made available to authorities upon request.
A Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) is a mandatory safety assessment which forms a part of the Product Information File (PIF) for cosmetic products placed on the EU and UK markets. The CPSR demonstrates that a cosmetic product is safe for human health under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use. The CPSR is legally required before a cosmetic product can be sold.
TÜV SÜD provides independent, science‑based CPSR and PIF services, helping cosmetic products achieve regulatory compliance, market acceptance, and consumer safety across the EU and UK markets
