Thailand: Establishment of Industrial Standard TIS 60335 - 2(23) – Safety Requirements for Electrical Appliances for Skin or Hair Care

On 22 February 2023, the Thai Ministry of Industry has published Announcement No. 6871, 2022 to establish Industrial Standard TIS 60335-2 (23) - 2564 on household and similar electrical appliances requirements, particularly for the appliances for skin or hair care, in accordance with the Industrial Product Standards Act.

This Standard specifies the safety requirements of electric appliances for the care of human skin or hair. The rated voltage of the appliance shall be up to 250 V.

Examples of appliances listed in the scope of this standard are:
– curling combs
– curling irons
– curling rollers with separate heaters
– facial saunas
– hairdryers
– hand dryers
– heaters with detachable curlers
– permanent-wave appliances
– hair straighteners

Appliances covered by this standard may include steam-producing devices.

This standard is implemented on 22 February 2023.
