Chemical management and the Detox Campaign

Product manufacturing processes can result in a significant number of hazardous chemical by-products. When these potentially toxic substances inadvertently enter the environment through waste water and industrial sludge, end-users and nearby ecosystems may be negatively impacted. To avoid non-compliance and environmental harm, companies need to ensure all hazardous chemicals are properly identified and eventually eliminated from the manufacturing process.

In this webinar, Dr Lui will introduce the concept of chemical and chemical data management. The details of the third-party chemical audit and waste water & sludge testing will also be discussed. Furthermore, an intelligent database, the Chemical Data Management System (CDMS) will be presented together with the concepts of (a) smart testing and (b) sensible testing with quantitative risk assessments.

Dr Raymond Lui has in-depth knowledge in the field of materials science. His 20 years of experiences covers a broad range of interrelated topics with a strong research focus on fabrication and characterisation of exotic materials. He is the creator of the TÜV SÜD Footwear Mark, a comprehensive quality assurance programme for footwear that has received wide acceptance by major brands in the United States of America (U.S). and the European Union (EU).

Dr Lui obtained Postdoctoral Fellowships in Chemistry (UoH), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (CUHK), and Physics (CUHK).
