TÜV SÜD has certified the alarm receiving centre (ARC) operated by Swiss company SOS Surveillance in accordance with the European EN 50518 standard. The certification confirms that the ARC complies with all technical, operational and organisational requirements set forth in the standard. Groupe SOS Surveillance is the third security service provider in Switzerland to be awarded certification from TÜV SÜD.
“The introduction of EN 50518 has now established a harmonised European standard for alarm receiving centres”, says Alexander Gottwald, head of the responsible inspection body at TÜV SÜD. The three-part standard imposes strict requirements for secure and reliable operation of alarm receiving centres, focusing on location and construction requirements (Part 1), technical equipment requirements (Part 2) and procedures and requirements for operation (Part 3). The certificate issued by TÜV SÜD covers identification and documentation of potential deviations of the ARC from the currently valid version of EN 50518, support in developing actions to ensure compliance, and certification of the ARC’s conformity with the standard.
Documented quality
SOS Surveillance SA passed the comprehensive audits conducted by TÜV SÜD’s experts with flying colours. Based in Martigny in Switzerland, the security service provider offers a portfolio of services ranging from property and personal protection and alarm intervention to development of security concepts, protection of private and public events, and patrol services for money transport and value protection. “This certification of our alarm receiving centre is a milestone for our company and our clients, documenting the high quality of our services in this area”, says Pierre-Yves Glassey, General Director of Groupe SOS Surveillance.
Since the launch of EN 50518, TÜV SÜD’s experts have already inspected and certified many ARCs in numerous European countries including Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “The experiences we have amassed in our audits show that the standard has had an extremely positive impact on the business continuity of alarm receiving centres, and thus on their reliability”, explains Alexander Gottwald. The high quality of TÜV SÜD’s certificates is confirmed and underpinned by the company’s accreditations from the German National Accreditation Body (DAkkS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065 and ISO/IEC 17020.
