What happens when hybrid electric and electric automobiles are accidentally submerged in seawater? Conventional vehicles impacted by natural occurances such as hurricanes and floods are usually recycled without the potential for serious hazards. But is this also true for electric and hybrid electric passenger vehicles? Recent testing conducted by TÜV SÜD is yielding data that may contribute to a better understanding of the potential risk of recycling xEVs following immersion in seawater.
