Under the motto of “Safety for Amusement Parks and Rides” TÜV SÜD will showcase its services at the European Attraction Show (EAS) in Amsterdam from 25 to 27 September 2018. TÜV SÜD's presence at the show will focus on retrofit measures for existing amusement rides according to EN 13814, the safety of water and amusement parks and the corresponding Safety Check (Hall 1, Stand 1331).
According to both national and international regulations, amusement parks and rides undergo initial inspection and regular periodic inspections to ensure their condition and operational safety are appropriate. Inspections are carried out according to the EN 13814 European standard or the ISO 17842 International standard, which covers certification of both individual rides, entire amusement parks and park-wide interactions and processes. TÜV SÜD will also inform EAS visitors about its “Retrofit EN 13814”, which offers ride managers support in the retrofitting of existing amusement rides to meet the requirements of the EN 13814.
Quality, safety and sustainability solutions

It provides services to amusement ride manufacturers and managers along the entire production chain, from advisory during purchasing or project design to review of technical documentation, quality assurance during production, initial approval and periodic inspection of the ride. “Our services contribute significantly to the safety of water and amusement parks worldwide”, says Stefan Kasper, head of the department Amusement Rides at TÜV SÜD. “This benefits manufacturers and managers, but above all the visitors of the parks.”
Safety Check for Adventure Pools and Water Parks
By offering its new “Safety Check for Adventure Pools and Water Parks”, TÜV SÜD supports the managers of these facilities in meeting the increasingly strict safety requirements, and thus fulfilling their responsibility as owners and operators. For this purpose TÜV SÜD has worked with Frankfurt/Main-based company corporate momentum GmbH to develop a modular list of criteria, which ranges from the testing of individual water slides according to EN 1069 to the testing of entire water parks according to EN 15288 and other relevant directives. The modular structure of the Safety Check enables the process to provide solutions to a wide variety of demands made by the managers of pools and parks of all sizes.
