This mark is identical to the TÜV SÜD safety mark, but a regionalized expansion to similar UK standards.
Basis of certification are the safety requirements of regulations like the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD), Low Voltage Directive and Machinery Directive + their UK equivalents by using adequate standards and test programs (PPP). The RED is also applicable in case that the product has a WiFi or Bluetooth connection (but only in combination with a safety-certification). The marks are not applicable to schemes where a mandatory Notified Body Mandatory like ATEX, MDR or IVDR is required. Wide range of standards listed in the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD), Low Voltage Directive and Machinery Directive + their UK equivalents. Not applicable for Notified Body Mandatory Schemes like ATEX, MDR or IVDR.
The UK and EU remark indicates that the product fulfills the requirements of both areas, similar to the cTÜVus mark.
The voluntary TÜV SÜD certification mark with the statement “Safety tested” is awarded for products indicating that the product was tested and certified by the independent third-party organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service for conformity with the essential technical safety requirements.
Periodic surveillance and/or monitoring of the manufacture of a product constitutes the basic premise for certification that includes the award of a certification mark. Certification always requires product testing and regular factory inspections. As a third-party expert organisation, TÜV SÜD Product Service verifies that the manufacturer is able to maintain consistent quality in line with the requirements throughout high-volume production and has established the necessary quality system, including incoming goods inspections, lists of materials and final product testing. In addition, calibration of the necessary measuring and monitoring equipment must be ensured. Surveillance and/or monitoring covers the testing of safety-critical components and other materials used. If unauthorised changes are made to the product, the certificate will become invalid (withdrawn) and the TÜV SÜD certification mark may no longer be used.
The voluntary certification mark with the statement "Type tested" is awarded for products and components, indicating that the product/component was tested and certified by the independent third-party organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service for conformity with the essential technical safety requirements. The certification criteria vary depending on the products in question.
