TÜV SÜD has developed a ground-breaking certification process based on the OpenChain specification, which enables companies to review their underlying processes and document their compliance with licensing agreements. Hitachi, Ltd. was the first company in the world to receive the new TÜV SÜD certificate.
TÜV SÜD has acquired the IWT4 Instrumented Wheelset Technology business from SNC-Lavalin (formerly Interfleet Technology). The acquisition further bolsters TÜV SÜD’s position as a one-stop-shop for independent assessment, testing and approval of railway vehicles.

In Germany, 17 new public refuelling stations started operation in 2018, further consolidating Germany as the country with the second largest public hydrogen refuelling infrastructure globally with 60 public stations, ahead of the USA (42 stations) and only surpassed by Japan (96 public stations).
