Engineering services provider SEGULA Technologies and TÜV SÜD have announced their collaboration. The companies’ alliance will provide automotive manufacturers, mobility service providers, technology companies and suppliers with a comprehensive range of services for the market entry of vehicles on global markets, from detailed planning to vehicle type approval. SEGULA Technologies‘ test centre in Rodgau-Dudenhofen near Frankfurt will be the hub of this one-stop shop.

The collaboration between SEGULA Technologies and TÜV SÜD is designed to combine each company’s strengths and areas of expertise and supply a broad range of services related to vehicle development and market access solutions.

By pooling their individual areas of expertise and resources, the two companies are embracing a unique one-stop shop approach that will enable automotive manufacturers, mobility service providers, technology companies and suppliers to navigate the entire process of placing vehicles on German, European and global markets smoothly and efficiently. Customers can select from the complete range of services required for market access, from planning and development to testing and type approval. The one-stop shop covers new technologies such as vehicles with automated or autonomous driving functions, as well as new drive technologies like electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Instead of having to deal with several service providers, customers now have a single point of contact as a general contractor. This close collaboration enables any potential obstacles to global vehicle approval to be tackled proactively at an early stage, resulting in shorter development cycles and faster market-readiness and approval processes.

Within the new partnership, SEGULA Technologies will be responsible for development and provide services in the areas of vehicle, powertrain and applications as well as software and digitisation solutions. The experts from the international operator will contribute their specialist knowledge of global markets and pursue compliance with national and internationally applicable emissions and OBD regulations for classic drive concepts, but also – and particularly – for new drive systems such as electric mobility and hydrogen. SEGULA Technologies operates its own testing facilities for vehicle and system validation and will also be responsible for project and supplier management.

As a globally operating technical service provider and a European market leader, TÜV SÜD will draw on its wealth of expertise in certification, accreditation, regulations, standards, approval processes and homologation.

“I am delighted that we have joined forces with TÜV SÜD to offer our services in tandem. This is a valuable complement to our portfolio”, says Dr Holger Jené, CEO SEGULA Technologies Germany. “The unique arrangement, in which complementary areas of core competence are pooled, will considerably streamline access to the European market for our international customers.”

Stefan Merkl, Head of Mobility Industry at TÜV SÜD, likewise welcomes the collaboration: “Our customers will gain enormous benefits from the partnership between TÜV SÜD and SEGULA Technologies. Our joint one-stop shop approach will enable them to complete their projects with greater efficiency and gain market access faster.”

Rodgau-Dudenhofen test centre near Frankfurt to be central hub
The new range of services will focus on SEGULA Technologies’ test centre in Rodgau-Dudenhofen, just 30 km from Frankfurt International Airport. With a proving ground offering an extensive network of test tracks plus state-of-the-art OEM-standard test equipment, it is the perfect location for testing components, systems and whole vehicles and preparing them for market-readiness. The nearby campus in Rüsselsheim is home to further engineering and testing activities, with equipment including whole-vehicle test benches.
