TÜV SÜD – reliable partner for the further expansion and optimised use of wind power resources

The German government has announced plans to double the volume of electricity gained from renewable energy sources (RES) by 2030. Wind power figures as a key element in these plans. TÜV SÜD is supporting the wind energy sector in reaching this goal by offering services for wind turbine generators (WTGs) that cover new builds, operation and lifetime extension. (Hall A, Stand A1.311)

ts.pr-windenergy“Safely advancing the energy of the future. Let’s get moving. Together.” is the banner theme of TÜV SÜD’s presence at the WindEnergy trade fair in Hamburg. The international testing, inspection and certification (TIC) company can draw on extensive experience in certification of both onshore and offshore wind farms and of wind turbines and their components. TÜV SÜD’s experts provide risk analyses, occupational health and safety concepts, quality control during construction and periodic inspection of WTGs, which assist all stakeholders with planning, construction, operation and investment decisions. The wind reports and wind-resource, site-suitability and structural analyses supplied by the experts not only lay the foundation for the projecting and realisation of new wind farms; their services in WTG lifetime assessment also provide a reliable basis for the decisions involved in whether to decommission, repower or extend the lifetime of a turbine after the end of its design life.

IT Security and Asset Management for greater safety and cost effectiveness

Complementing the above activities, TÜV SÜD offers further services aimed at optimising wind-farm and wind-turbine safety, reliability and cost effectiveness. A certified Information Security Management System (ISMS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001 helps to achieve systematic and structured optimisation of information security and cybersecurity, and to align these aspects to the requirements of the wind-energy sector. A solid ISMS ensures improvement of the entire IT infrastructure, providing protection against cyberattacks and the associated unintentional downtime. To improve the reliability and cost-effectiveness of their turbines, wind-farm operators can establish an Asset Management System in accordance with DIN ISO 55001. Such a system facilitates optimum use of assets, long-term planning of investments and better risk management. TÜV SÜD offers a full-service package in this area – from training to certification.
