TÜV SÜD once again recognized for family friendliness

“workandfamily” certificate awarded for the sixth time

TÜV SÜD in Germany has been certified for contribution in balancing work and family life of its employees since 2009. Tanja Schulz, responsible for work and family issues at TÜV SÜD, explains: “This award confirms our ongoing and systematic commitment to a family- and life-stage-conscious corporate culture – from pregnancy to caregiving – and motivates us to continue optimizing working conditions for as many employees as possible.”

TÜV SÜD supports its around 14.000 employees in Germany in almost all situations with numerous measures to help them achieve a good work-life balance: mobile working and flexible working time models are widely used. The group assists with finding childcare places and offers holiday care. Employees also have access to advice and support with care responsibilities, as well as training and counseling services for all stages of life. A dedicated network for employees with family responsibilities supports the exchange of experience and knowledge.

Tanja Schulz explains: “A family- and life-phase-conscious corporate culture is essential for the future viability of TÜV SÜD. As an employer with many highly qualified and specialized professionals, we want to offer the best workforce optimal working conditions.” Although the certificate is awarded for TÜV SÜD Germany, some measures are also valid worldwide and can be utilized by all 30.000 employees.

Focus on age diversity

The certificate award ceremony was themed around the 2025 motto of workandfamily: “#agematters – age(ing) awareness and attractiveness.” TÜV SÜD has integrated the topic of age into its diversity strategy for many years. In the context of the shortage of skilled workers and demographic change, the challenges are not only recognized by managers, but also within the workforce. The company offers numerous benefits such as flexible working time models and comprehensive health services that benefit all age groups. In addition, there are special offers designed to strengthen intergenerational cooperation.

Generation management with impact

Regular workshops and mentoring programs establish knowledge transfer and communication. Systematic knowledge management and transfer, systematic, long-term succession planning, and targeted coaching offers for workplace design for older employees round out the program. Overall, the generation management measures show that they not only contribute to increasing employee satisfaction and loyalty, but can also boost a company's competitiveness and innovative strength because knowledge is shared better and used more efficiently.
