In 2015, TÜV SÜD Rail participated at the Mass-Trans Innovation as an exhibitor, presenter for several topics, as well as panellist in a discussion on safety and interoperability in the areas of signalling and rolling stock.
In a presentation, Mr. Kamolyabutra spoke about “The recent railway business scene in Thailand and TÜV SÜD’s service scope for overseas railway projects”. In a special session, Mr. Sven Nowak gave a report on “Functional Safety in Railways”. This topic brought about a lively and active discussion among the 100 participants. Afterwards, Mr. Novak joined other representatives from JR East, Nippon Signal and technical universities of Sydney, Tokyo and Beijing in a panel discussion about recent signalling technology and its impact.
In total, more than 28,000 people visited the Mass-Trans, a 148% increase from the previous exhibition, and over 400 exhibitors presented their products and services.
Held jointly with the Mass-Trans, the STECH 2015 covered several topics in the railway business like rail vehicles, electrical/electronic systems, infrastructure, urban transportation and energy. TÜV SÜD addressed the topic of “Japanese Rolling Stock Vehicles in Europe?” at the symposium. Mr. Alfred Beer, who was the presenter, explained the roles and responsibilities of the Notified Body (NoBo), Designated Body (DeBo) and Assessment Body (AsBo), as well as illustrated the process with an example in rail fire safety. The topic garnered very positive feedback and participants were very interested in the topic of European approval processes.
As a result of this informative presentation, TÜV SÜD has been invited to speak at the 18th International Wheelset Congress in Chengdu on 7 - 10th of November 2016.
