JUNE 2021 - TOYS AND CHILDREN'S PRODUCTS
On 31 May 2021, the European Commission published new references of standards under Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. This Decision EU 2021/8671, was issued in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), it updates the toy standards EN 71-7, EN 71-12 and EN IEC 62115 to the latest versions and provides the transitional period for the current harmonised standards. The current harmonised standards will be superseded from the date of withdrawal, and the new ones will start to give presumption of conformity with the requirements in the Toy Directive.
The updated harmonised standards are summarised below:

It is noticeable that the limit values for N-Nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substance given in the EN 71-12:2016 are lower than those set in the Toy Directive, the Commission has published an explanatory note to follow the test method in the standard with the exemption for the lower limit values.
