TÜV SÜD recently held a successful "Seminar on Automated and Autonomous Driving Technology" at the Signiel Seoul Grand Ballroom of the Lotte World Tower in Korea this year with more than 150 experts in the field of automated and autonomous driving systems.
The seminar addressed the topic of 'Specifications for the homologation of automated driving system (ADS) of fully automated motor vehicles’. The experts introduced new verification methods for automated driving, such as real-world verification and process auditing, with virtual simulations and tests in line with the different certification schemes required by each target market around the world.
The event attracted a lot of attention from attendees as Stefan Merkl, Vice President of Global Automotive Business, and Martin Unterhauser, Head of New Mobility Services North Asia, introduced the U.S. and European regulatory requirements for automated and autonomous vehicles and systems and their implications.
"With the recent introduction of regulations for the approval and certification of automated and autonomous vehicles in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world, the requirements of both regulators and governments differ according to different certification schemes for different markets," said Seo Jung-wook, General Manager of TÜV SÜD Korea. The seminar was designed to share the status of the certification requirements of the major markets for Level 4 automated and autonomous vehicles.
