    Through the initiative Explore, we will give students the opportunity to do an internship of 6 to 8 weeks at one of the diverse Company Locations of TÜV SÜD in the participating countries.

    TÜV SÜD provides 12 to 15 internship positions within Explore worldwide per year.

    The selection of the applicants is managed by the internship provider.

    • Additionally, TÜV SÜD supports financially by covering usual travel expenses and a subsidy towards accommodation.
    • The participants of Explore will be insured via TÜV SÜD AG (including third-Party liability, health and accident insurance).
    • In addition, external partners will provide local support for the interns. This "Buddy" (available in most locations) will assist regarding visa issues, finding suitable accommodation, opening a banc account, etc.

    Entry criteria

    • The program is open for children of TÜV SÜD employees enrolled as students aged between 18 and 25*
    • Curiosity and openness about other cultures
    • Interest in getting to know TÜV SÜD in Germany
    • Good knowledge of the English language (Minimum B2 in spoken + written language)
    • Content must fit between studies and internship

    Internship period

    The internships in Germany (international students) take place between the 1st of July and 31st of August for a duration of 6 to 8 weeks. The international internships (German students) take place between the 1st of August and 30th of September for a duration of 6 to 8 weeks.

    The exact start date and duration are depending on the specific internship position.

    German students can apply for all internship offered by participating countries.



    * At the time of departure participants must be aged over 18 but under 26.




    What are the requirements for participating?

    The program is open to enrolled post-secondary students aged from 18 to 25 of TÜV SÜD employees. Participation without a valid enrollment is not possible.

    Furthermore, good knowledge of the English language and a link between studies and internship position are needed. Specific requirements of the respective internships are mentioned in the respective job advertisement.

    What language skills are required?

    Good knowledge of the English language is required in order to be able to communicate smoothly in the department of the internship.
    Do I need to be enrolled for the whole duration?
    A valid university enrolment is necessary for the entire duration of the internship. Occasionally postgraduates may be allowed, the case will be individually evaluated in case of acceptance to an internship.

    Which are the documents I need for my application?

    For the application, you need the following documents: Application letter, CV and valid enrollment certificate for the period of the internship. Further required documents are mentioned in the job advertisement.

    Until when do I need to apply?

    Application deadline is the 2nd of march 2020. Please note that applications received after this date cannot be considered.

    I missed the deadline on 15th of February. Is there a second round to apply?

    This year no further application round for an internship in 2020 is planned. Please note that applications cannot be considered after March 2nd. We are currently planning to offer the program in the following year.

    How do I apply?

    In order to apply, please send all the documents mentioned in the internship description to the contact named in the internship offer and to the Explore team ().

    Can I apply for more than just one internship?

    Yes, you can apply for more than one internship. Please note that for each job an individual application is necessary and send it to the contact person named in the internship offer and to the Explore team ().

    Can I send a universal application or do I have to apply for the specific internship offer?

    For each internship position an individual application is necessary.

    Why is there no suitable internship position for my studies?

    The availability of internship offers depends on the internship opportunities offered by the national companies.

    I am a working student at TUEV SUED. Can I also participate?

    The program is currently restricted to children of employees.


    When will the internships take place and how long are those?

    The internships have a duration from 6 to 8 weeks. Due to the international situation of the semester holidays, the internships are as follows: The internships in Germany for international students take place between the 1st of July and the 31st of August. The exact start date as well as the exact duration depend on the specific internship.

    Can I also do an internship with Explore in another period?

    It is not possible to change the specified time frame. If the internship description indicates that the dates are flexible, they must be agreed with the internship provider. The duration of the internships must still be between 6 and 8 weeks and will take place within the specified period from 1st of July to 31st of August 2019.

    How many hours a week do I have to work?

    Your weekly working hours depend on the location of the internship and on-site requirements. Please refer directly to the contact person named in the internship offer.

    Do I get a salary? How much is it?

    All internships are paid internships. The amount of your salary depends on the location of the internship and on-site requirements. In Germany, the amount of compensation is generally € 800 per month, unless there are other legal regulations.

    In addition, the participants receive financial support through the reimbursement of normal flight costs and a rental subsidy.


    What support is provided?

    TÜV SÜD supports financially through:

    • Paying an appropriate internship salary
    • Covering typical costs of flight ticket
    • Subsidy of accommodation costs
    • The following insurances are covered: personal liability insurance, health and accident insurance

    Explore cooperates with an external service provider who offers among other things:

    • Support finding accommodation
    • Support regarding eventual visa issues and work permit
    • Airport Pickup
    • Companionship to work place on first working day
    • Where possible, support in dealing with authorities and opening a bank account

    Do I have to search for an accommodation on my own?

    In general, the students themselves are responsible for finding accommodation. Usually the student will be supported in this aspect by our external partner organization. TÜV SÜD also financially subsidizes accommodation with €150 per month.

    Who is my local contact Person?

    On the one hand, you have a contact person in your department during your internship who is responsible for all questions regarding the internship.

    On the other hand, a partner organization of TÜV SÜD provides a “buddy” for each participant. He / She helps with the search for accommodation before arrival and picks the intern up from the airport and accompanies the intern on the first working day to the TÜV SÜD office.


    Which expenses regarding my internship are taken over by TÜV SÜD?

    Typical costs of flight ticket will be covered. Additionally, as a subsidy to the accommodation, each Explore participant receives a proportionate rental subsidy of €150 per month.

    What does “usual travel expenses” mean?

    By “usual travel expenses” is meant that travel expenses like flight costs have to have a reasonable price. For example: Economy class, no additional services, early booking, ..

    How much is the subsidy for living Costs?

    As a subsidy for accommodation, the intern receives a rental subsidy of €150 per month. This amount is to be paid with the first payroll.
