COVID-19 Update - Steam and Pressure Group

Ensuring safety during uncertain times

COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges throughout the world and has impacted everyday life

We at TÜV SÜD Steam and Pressure Group hope everyone, including your family and friends remain healthy and safe as we continue to monitor the situation daily.

TÜV SÜD is committed to taking action to minimize COVID-19 risks at both our client sites and TÜV SÜD locations. Below is some guidance:

  • YES, we are an essential business
  • That does not mean we go into every situation regardless of the risk and without taking all reasonable safety precautions

PROTOCOLS TO KEEP CLIENTS SAFE DURING INSPECTIONS

The following protocol is set up for clients where TÜV SÜD is performing CE marking related to pressure vessel inspections and ISO audits:

  • Before entering a client’s facility, the TÜV SÜD employee is to review the Health Questionnaire Survey [XSLX] and comply with the Inspector Auditor Field Engineer Field Services Protocol [PDF].
  • TÜV SÜD employees will continue all servicing as we are providing essential duties as outlined in any proclamations issued by Governors, State Health Departments, Local Authorities, etc.
  • TÜV SÜD employees have been instructed to continue the scheduling process and to follow all established safety protocols issued both internally and externally.

RECERTIFICATION

Possible Approach:

  • Combination remote/onsite before later in 2020
  • Postponement must be done in 2020

Possible Approach:

  • Combination remote/onsite before end of 2020 or early 2021
  • Postpone up to 6 months – Letter for Germany must be submitted before the certificate expires with document review and extra fee. Germany will sign the letter for a 6 month extension.

FOR AUDITS THAT MUST BE COMPLETED BY END OF 2020

If company visitor and travel restrictions to the site have been lifted, on site audits should be reinstated. The intent is to go back to onsite auditing as soon as is safe for all parties involved, but not before. Guidelines established by our Health and Safety group will be followed.

If the client policy continues to restrict visitor and travel restrictions or there is a reasonable concern for the auditor and client safety, remote auditing should be continued through the end of 2020 or until further notice.

Written approval from the client as well as the Auditor completing the Virtual Audit Checklist must be uploaded to ICERT at the completion of the audit.

It is suggested that a Test Run be scheduled prior to the Virtual Audit date to assure all parties are familiar with audit proceedings and to make sure that the audit is not delayed. This decision will be up to the customer depending on their expertise with Microsoft Teams or Zoom approach.
