Testing and certification for lighting products
Lighting testing is primarily concerned with evaluating the energy efficiency, electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of lighting products. These tests ensure the lighting product achieves compliance with applicable regulations and standards, a general requirement for access to major markets.
State-of-the-art lighting testing laboratories, such as those operated by TÜV SÜD America, are equipped to conduct specific tests - including luminous flux, warm-up time, determination of color binning and much more - that are consistent with these standards.
Certain tests, such as those addressing the electrical and photobiological safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of lighting products, are generally required for access to major markets, including the United States and the European Union (EU).
In addition, demonstrated compliance with the requirements of voluntary schemes, such as the U.S. ENERGY STAR® program, are important for acceptance by utilities, retailers and consumers, and can provide manufacturers of lighting products with a critical competitive advantage.
TÜV SÜD America is a leading provider of comprehensive testing and certification services for nearly any lighting product.
