TÜV SÜD Signs new Agreement as third-party laboratory for IPEMA

Peabody, MA, August 7, 2020 -- TÜV SÜD America is pleased to announce the renewed service agreement with IPEMA, the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association, as the association’s third-party testing/certification laboratory. For over 25 years, TÜV SÜD and IPEMA have served the playground equipment industry to ensure the safety of children in the U.S. and Canada. In the interest of public safety, IPEMA provides third-party Product Certification services for U.S. and Canadian public play equipment, and public play surfacing materials. The services provide for the validation of a participant’s certification of conformance to one of the standards referenced below. Both the equipment, and surfacing certification programs are administered by TÜV SÜD America.

  • ASTM F1487‐17, (excluding sections 7.1.1, 10, 13.1.1., 13.1.2, 13.2 and 13.3) - Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public use
  • CAN/CSA-Z614-14 (R2019), (excluding clauses 10, and 11) - Children’s Play spaces and Equipment
  • ASTM F1292-18, - Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation of Surface Systems Under and Around Playground Equipment, and/or ASTM F3351-19, Standard Test Method for Playground Surface Impact Testing in Laboratory at Specified Test Height.
  • ASTM F2075-15 - Standard Specification for Engineered Wood Fiber for Use as a Playground Safety Surface Under and Around Playground Equipment
  • ASTM F3012-14 - Standard for Loose-Fill Rubber for Use as a Playground Safety Surface Under and Around Playground Equipment
